Holiday Gift Guide: Mompreneur Edition

The holiday season is in full effect. Let’s take a moment to celebrate the release of the “Holiday Gift Guide: Mompreneur Edition.” All the mompreneurs featured in the holiday gift guide, are moms in business who do their best balancing the demands of motherhood and entrepreneurship.

This year, I wanted to do something a bit different and highlight moms in business. The “Holiday Gift Guide: Mompreneur Edition” highlights the variety of businesses being built by moms in the comfort of their homes. This holiday gift guide features eight moms in business including myself. The businesses range from kids sleepwear to financial planners, self-care journals and many more.

Do You Speak Affirmations With Your Children?

Before I get started on my journey as a mother this post is in no way or form to bash my parents at all. Being a mother of three and currently expecting my fourth I’ve had a chance to understand the importance of speaking life into my children.

Growing up, I honestly don’t remember my parents saying affirmations of any sort to me and my sibling. Maybe it wasn’t a big deal or it wasn’t something my parents were focused on back in the day. Times have definitely changed and I am changing the narrative on how parents should speak life into their children.

I was glad when, Nancy Torres had her assistant reach out to me to collaborate on her new children’s book, “Say It With Me (Dilo conmigo)” that me and my children were excited to receive the book in the mail.

We received the book right before the kids started school. We immediately started to read and related to the affirmations listed in the book. The kids started school in August of this year so we thought it would be cool to share some of the affirmations in a cool video. Click the image below to check it out!

Being a mother for the past nine years I’ve found that creating a routine and talking life into your children helps them with their feelings towards themselves and others. Saying affirmations out loud helps them build confidence and feel secure in knowing who they are as a person.

I want to thank Nancy for writing such a book. Being a teaching professional and a mother herself she knows firsthand that kids need to hear these affirmations daily. She took an idea and made it a reality for her family and for other families all over the world. Thank you!

This book compared to others I’ve written although many of the concepts are similar, the biggest difference is that you don’t have to deprive yourself of your favorite foods. Why I chose this diet book; I’m a little over a year in my fitness journey and dieting has the biggest hurdle. I’m excited to dive into why I chose this diet book. Often times, it’s hard to keep up with meal planning & prepping and not veer off and start eating things you shouldn’t. I had the opportunity to receive a copy of “Always Eat After 7PM by Joel Marion. This is the first post of four that you will see regarding jam packed information from our sponsor’s new book. Based on surprising science, Always Eat After 7 PM debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy to follow diet that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense food cravings: Eating the majority of your calories at night.

My initial thought was this book is going to be interesting. Learning from someone that has studied research and has an in-depth understanding of this industry.

One thing that stuck out to me at the beginning of the book was Joel’s take on breakfast: “Those who ate breakfast ended up eating about 260 calories more a day, the review found. Those who skipped breakfast were about one pound lighter than those that ate breakfast. These findings led the researchers to conclude that eating breakfast isn’t necessarily a good strategy for losing weight. The science isn’t really there. Breakfast could very well be the least important meal of the day.”

Being consistent with my diet is very important for my fitness journey. Realizing that the necessary changes start with me I will. continue to update you all I go more in depth on why I chose this diet book. Stay tuned for the update next week.
